About Our Church
Mt. Sinai Church History
On August 29, 2004, Pastor Johnnie L. Timmons, Sr. and a group of faithful followers of Jesus Christ were led by the Holy Spirit to hold the first church service of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. This service was held at Fort McAllister Family and Group Shelter in Richmond Hill, GA. Pastor Timmons’ message was derived from Exodus 19:1-25 and Exodus 20:1-20; the title was “Mt. Sinai, God’s Holy Mountain”.

Services were briefly held at the recreation center and were later held at 822 Longwood Drive in Richmond Hill. Due to the growth of the congregation, Mt. Sinai's last services was held at Longview Drive in November 2004. Pastor Timmons led his flock back to Fort McAllister from December 2004 to February 2005. God showered Mt. Sinai with many blessings in the year of 2005, including our current church building at 128 Frances Meeks Drive, Suite #14, in Richmond Hill. In the ensuing years, many families would join our church to help build our present-day congregation.

In July of 2018, New Generation Church decided to merge with Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist church. On August 5, 2018, Reverend Floyd Hartford and Lady Susie Hartford were given the right hand of fellowship to become new members of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist church, with Reverend Hartford named an assistant Pastor. Following the retirement of Pastor Timmons, Reverend Hartford was named the head pastor at Mt. Sinai, where he continues to preach the Word of God today.

Mt. Sinai Church Today
Although we are few in number, our church family comes together as often as possible to learn, pray, celebrate, sing, praise, and worship our lord and savior Jesus Christ. We strive to spread His gospel and the beliefs of the Baptist denomination. We worship inside of our church home, at our sister churches, and at events held in the community.

We hope to impact the Richmond Hill and neighboring communities through our worship services, as well as organized events held throughout the year. This includes celebrating and participating in the city's Martin Luther King Jr. parades, our Harvest Day festivals, Richmond Hill's Ogeechee Gullah festivals, and a wide array of other celebrations held in honor of the leaders of local churches and community.

With ambitions to build a new church sanctuary to house our growing ministries, we aim to create opportunities for members and the community to support us. We realize our ministries are not only important for the well-being of our church, but also for instilling God's word in the generations to come.
